Deepika Padukone To Co-Produce A Dark Yet Romantic Drama With Karan Johar

A few days back, reports of Deepika Padukone starring opposite Siddhant Chaturvedi aka Gully Boy’s MC Sher made headlines and how. Reportedly, the untitled film will be helmed by Karan Johar. Siddhant rose to fame with his debut in Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt led Gully Boy as MC Sher. The actor not only received accolades for his performance but even made a new fan base for himself. With starring opposite Deepika Padukone in his next, Siddhant is going to treat his fans with a fresh pairing. The film will be directed by Shakun Batra and is touted to be a dark romantic film.

Now looks like, slowly and steadily time is changing in Bollywood. It was during the trailer launch of Good Newwz when KJo revealed that he believes in complete pay parity between men and women. He also said that he will make sure that actress headlining his production ventures, will also get a co-producer credit to it. Now the latest reports state that Deepika Padukone, apart from starring in the film, will also be co-producing the film. A source close to the makers told Pinkvilla that Deepika’s next Shakun Batra has the actress playing the central character. In the film, Deepika shoulders the film, which is a dark romantic drama and Siddhant Chaturvedi has been paired opposite her. The source revealed, “Karan and Deepika discussed the project and the actress really loved the idea. In fact, she also spoke to Karan and they both agreed to have her on board as a co-producer."

Interestingly, this will not be the first film to be rolled out under Deepika’s production. Deepika’s debut production venture is her and husband Ranveer Singh’s first project post-marriage followed by Chhapaak, helmed by Meghna Gulzar.  Deepika and Siddhant’s dark romantic film will be directed by Shakun Bhatra under the guidance of Karan Johar is expected to go on floors in or around February, next year.
